I just wanted to remind everyone that after church, this Sunday, March 11, is Pot Luck. Please make every attempt to come and enjoy good food and fellowship. Please bring your favorite dish. This can be anything, meat dishes, casseroles, breads, desserts, side dishes, soups, etc... This is always a great time to get to know everyone a little bit better and eat some really good food.
I also wanted to remind everyone that we will be having General Conference on March 31 – April 1. For anyone that is not familiar with General Conference, it is a broadcast from Salt Lake City. We are able to hear many informative and inspirational talks from the Prophet, His Counselors, the Apostles, and many other Leaders of the Church. The four general sessions for General Conference will be: Saturday and Sunday 11:00-1:00 and 3:00-5:00. The Priesthood session will be on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The broadcast will be set up in the Chapel for everyone to watch. General Conference is also available on the BYU channel if you have satellite. (We need to let our Sisters on our Visiting Teaching List know about conference)
At Stake Conference on the Saturday evening session, I enjoyed listening to the talk by the Sister from Eldorado, AR (Who attends the Farmerville Branch/Ward). She said that they, (She and her Husband), would always say that they would just read the General Conference when it came out in the Ensign the next month. But as time would go by that they would never get around to reading it from the Ensign. So now they make it a priority to go to the chapel to hear the Conference talks. I can so relate to what she said. I would like to encourage all of us to attend General Conference and hear the talks firsthand the first time around.
I received a couple of quotes from my daily inspirational talks that I would like to share:
I have learned that there is great safety in following the prophets.
Heavenly Father reveals [His] wisdom to His children on earth through His servants the prophets.
Because Heavenly Father loves His children, He has not left them to walk through this mortal life without direction and guidance.
Fast Sunday will be held on March 25, 2012 instead of the 1st Sunday in April due to General Conference.
